These days, officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan on a working visit to Malaysia have held meetings with a number of prestigious organisations and companies and reached important agreements on innovations in agriculture, trade relations and personnel training.
First of all, the delegation held talks with the leaders of the Malaysian company “Meraque”. During the meeting it was agreed to launch training programmes to teach drone technologies in depth to Uzbek students, young scientists and engineers. It is also planned that in the near future the company will bring drones and AGV (Autonomous Ground Vehicle) technologies to Uzbekistan and demonstrate them in practice to local farmers. This initiative was an important step towards the broad introduction of digital solutions in our country’s agriculture.
The delegation also met with representatives of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority of Malaysia (FAMA). The talks discussed the possibilities of exporting fruit and vegetables, melons, dried fruit and ready-made food products from Uzbekistan to Malaysia. FAMA’s leaders expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation in this area. The parties reviewed a draft memorandum of understanding and agreed to sign it soon.
In addition, the talks with the company “Bounty Group” considered the possibilities of implementing joint projects in aquaculture and poultry farming. It is planned to introduce the initial initiatives in Uzbekistan on a trial basis as a pilot project.
The meeting with the Malaysian Rubber Corporation (MRC) opened up new prospects in agriculture. The talks discussed the possibilities of growing rubber in Uzbekistan, research cooperation and the exchange of specialists. An agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of understanding between Tashkent State Agrarian University and the relevant higher education institution of Malaysia.
The delegation’s next meeting was with the prestigious Malaysian organisation MARA (Majlis Amanah Rakyat). The parties discussed the modernisation of agriculture, the implementation of innovative projects, the broad introduction of information technologies and the training of highly qualified personnel. In particular, an agreement was reached on creating joint educational programmes and on the exchange of students and specialists. MARA representatives announced that they would pay a working visit to Uzbekistan before the end of this year.
