The results of the 2023 work of the Committee on Agrarian and Water Management Issues of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as its main directions and tasks for 2024, were discussed.
The event was attended by committee members, members of the youth parliament, members of the expert group under the committee, heads of the secretariats of local councils from the regions, chairs of the standing commissions on agrarian, water management and ecology issues, and media representatives.
During 2023, the committee carried out certain work in accordance with the priority tasks set out in the State Programme, in the President’s decrees and resolutions on developing the agrarian sector, and in other regulatory legal acts.
In particular, 18 discussions were held within legislative and parliamentary oversight activity with the participation of committee members, at which 42 issues were considered. Under the committee’s responsibility, 7 laws and 5 issues were prepared for the plenary sessions of the Senate, the results of 1 parliamentary inquiry were discussed, and 12 senators’ inquiries were sent to ministries and agencies.
