Today a seminar devoted to the “Recarbonisation of agricultural soils (RECSOIL) initiative in Uzbekistan” was held at the “Frankfurt” hotel in our capital.
It discussed how this initiative improves soil fertility and increases its resilience to adverse impacts, addresses climate change problems, improves the condition of the soil and, as a result, increases farmers’ incomes and food security.
It should be said that RECSOIL tools are of great importance in collecting and analysing data to assess how they contribute to achieving land degradation neutrality and their impact on sustainable soil management.
In recent years, effective results have been achieved within this project in supporting agriculture in the drought-prone areas of Uzbekistan using advanced resource-saving methods.
Precisely these issues were discussed at today’s seminar as well. In particular, the questions of informing the seminar participants about the essence of the RECSOIL mechanism and of identifying potential partners of the project among ministries, agencies and scientific and technical institutions were raised.
Moreover, during the seminar agreements were reached on developing an action plan for implementing RECSOIL in Uzbekistan.
As a reminder, this seminar was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Global Soil Partnership (GSP).
