At the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly on 22 April 2009, “International Mother Earth Day” was established; since 2010 this day has been widely celebrated every year on 22 April around the world with the participation of scientists and representatives of international organisations.
In order to ensure the implementation of the tasks set out in paragraph 9 of Resolution No. PQ-200 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of 3 July 2023 and of Order No. 37 of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan of 13 February 2026, an international scientific and practical conference on the topic “The role of information systems in the sustainable management of land resources in agriculture” was held on 22 April this year in cooperation with FAO. On the occasion of the institute’s 65th anniversary, Narimon Nishonov solemnly presented FAO’s official letter of congratulation and a commemorative gift to the institute’s General Director Ruhiddin Turayev.
As a reminder, the “Uzdavyerloyiha” State Scientific and Design Institute and FAO are continuing their cooperation within the project “Sustainable management of forests and pastures in drought-affected ecosystems of Uzbekistan” on the inventory of land, the assessment of its geobotanical composition and the development of land use plans with the participation of stakeholders in the Nurota district of the Navoiy region and the Jondor district of the Bukhara region. FAO is currently continuing work on new promising areas of cooperation with the institute.
