Sustainably developing agriculture, increasing crop yields and providing farmers with quality seed are among the pressing tasks in our country. To this end, consistent work is being carried out to fundamentally improve the seed production system and bring it to a new level.
Today a meeting of the founding council on relaunching the activity of the Association of Seed Growers of Uzbekistan was held in the capital. It considered the introduction of a number of additions and amendments to the organisation’s charter and founding documents.
Speaking at the event, the director of the Seed Production Development Centre Shuhrat Otajonov emphasised the importance of forming an environment of free competition in seed production, developing market mechanisms, providing agricultural producers with quality seed, and gradually transferring the process of preparing certified seed to the private sector.
The issues of creating the association’s material and technical base, of membership in the association and of setting the amount of annual membership fees were also considered. This in turn will ensure a stable financial basis for the association’s activity.
During the meeting, elections to the association’s governing bodies were also held. The composition of the organisation’s Board of Directors was likewise renewed.
As the participants of the meeting noted, the reorganisation of the association is expected to open up wide opportunities for farming and dehkan enterprises, to increase the competitiveness of local products and to serve sustainable development in the agrarian sector.
