On 6 May this year, employees of the “Uzdavyerloyiha” institute visited the Aral Sea International Innovation Centre and became acquainted with the progress of the projects being implemented within state programmes on research activity.
The international innovation centre’s tasks include developing the ecosystem and sustainable living conditions on the saline soils of the dried bed of the Aral Sea, developing and introducing innovations in cooperation with international organisations to solve various problems in a saline soil environment, applying innovative technologies and approaches — including agroforestry reclamation, turning the desert into woodland, underwater crops, bioenergy, crop diversification, growing crop complexes, livestock farming, pasture development, drought management and the mitigation of its consequences — as well as eliminating the consequences of the drying of the Aral Sea and developing public-private partnership in the field of the ecological rehabilitation of the Aral Sea basin.
